You may be able to see that all strands of the wire have been cut on the far side of the fencepost. This wire is at present probably not necessary as the cattle are not likely to try to move from the hardcore over the drain into the earlier line of the spring brook, which is totally overgrown.
Why then has someone cut the wires?
It struck me today that whoever is doing this with the heavy duty clippers may be under the impression that they are helping wildlife to move about the area.
If so, which animals? Or birds? Pheasants are very rare in the fields, any others could get through anyway.
Badgers? There are no signs down there that badgers have a trail, and that won't make them change.
Foxes? They are seen in the fields, but no sign of them in the location mentioned.
Bunnies? They are seen at times too, but could probably get through pig-wire.
If anyone knows any more, it would be interesting to discover the motive behind the cutting. At this location it certainly is not the individual/s who cut fencing near gates as they are not wearing suitable footwear, or think that they have the right to go exactly where they please on private land. So who does it, and why? Or is it just because deliberate destruction and making work for others is "a laugh?" JY
